It involves an auction, a 14 hour drive, belief in the description of “runs and drives fine,” and getting it registered and titled in this state with a minimum of fuss. Great idea, or greatest idea?

Do you have a Cell Phone? Do you have AAA? Do you have 3 days off? Yes? You have all you need.

As long as you bring pliers, a screwdriver, a hammer, some duct tape and bribe money you should be golden.

To be honest I'm surprised so few people have AAA or some other roadside assistance I've had AAA for 20+ years and it is so helpful when you drive and by hoopties.

I have something similar though Hagerty insurance with my ‘85 4Runner. It’s not as comprehensive as AAA, and the insurance policy itself limits me to 5000 miles per year anyway, but I can get towed. However I agree AAA is a great investment for people who keep older cars.

One tow will pay your AAA for a year.

What does the annual membership cost?

$122 for the most expensive with 400 total miles of towing a year.
